I wasn't sure which topic to post this, so I punted and went for General Conversation. I'm planning to inflict P&P on one of the local gaming groups, running the "From The Ashes" scenario in the book. To make things easier for me, I'll use the QuickStart Heroes available from the downloads section as pre-gen characters that the players can use. My question to Len is: which ones from the set would you think are best suited to use for the adventure? I'm figuring Citizen Soldier and Parthian are a shoe-in, along with Psidearm, Darkwolf, Combustion and Stronghold. I'm not sure if Nereidian or Sky Hunter are a good fit, and I'm not sure if I'd want to deal with Devil's Advocate in a player's hands. I was just curious what your thoughts were on the subject, good sir. P.S. I just went to the Downloads page and noticed there were new heroes! Gatecrasher's the main man!

Hello!
I know we have discussed this elsewhere, but in case anyone else is interested, I don't think that any of the heroes are either especially well or or especially poorly suited to the intro adventure. The intro adventure has some fights, some rp, and some investigation, so there's something there for everyone. And the villains are rather underpowered, intentially, since it's nice for heroes to feel like heroes when you first take them for a test drive. None of the villains are Ape-X or, heaven forbid, The Fallen caliber, so any of the heroes should do alright against them. Plus, the battle royale may well end with the heroes convincing the villains they they need to stop fighting and get the heck out of dodge before ... (SPOILERS) ... the entire base goes up like a Roman candle.

I ran a playtest of the adventure with my gaming group afte pumping the villains up a bit. It ended up being a decent combat, since all three fo the villains have decent defenses to keep them from being one-shotted. At one point in the fight, Gatecrasher tore up part of the floor to trap Kirlian (nice use of Resolve and the Special Effect rule) and taunted him, "Try and get out of that!". Kirlian replied, "Okay," then phased through the rubble. The look on the player's face was precious!

Oh, that Gate/Kirlian exchange is priceless.

Nice to see the real Gatecrasher's avatar. Those boardwalk photobooths are amazing!
