As I scoured through the rulebook in preparation to inflicting the game on some unsuspecting players, I realized I couldn't find any explicit reference to a very common superhero trope: knockback. After all, nothing screams comic book more than The Hulk punching The Thing through a skyscraper. I suppose I could use the Special Effects rule and use up 4 successes to narrate the target flying through the air from the force of my character's attack, but it seems somewhat counter-intuitive that I'd have to sacrifice damage to do so. Or maybe not. Thoughts?

I think that sort of thing is best handled by the Special Effects rule, as per your hunch. If you want to send Gatecrasher sailing across the block and smashing through the window of a fine menswear store, that's the route you take. The Subway Chum

Sorry for the delay, but that would be correct. If the special effect is going to have some kind of game effect like knocking someone far away, I'd make it a special effect ....
