I've looked through the book and the PDF and I can't seem to find any rules for heroes working together on a trait roll, for example, let's say two heroes want to team up and try to bash down a vault door how would that be handled?

The one time that came up during my demos was when the heroes were trying to open a steel door before the self-destruct in the villain's base went off. I let each player participating roll their trait and applied the "damage" as successes towards a fixed total needed to tear through the barrier.
Depending on the circumstances, it might work to just let them add up their successes into a group total and roll against that. If they succeed, the one who rolled highest gets narrative control.
But that's a seat-of-the-pants judgment call. YMMV.

Rough guideline: considering the jump in scale between ranks, only characters with ranks that are within 1 or 2 dice can really work together. If Hulk can't open a door, my assistance probably won't mean much. Frankly, nor will Beast's. In any event, the character with the highest ranked trait makes a normal roll and I would give him a +1d bonus for every helper whose trait rank is within 1d of the main character's trait rank, up to a max bonus of maybe +3d.
