As a long-time veteran of the Hero System (I bought Champions 1st Edition back in '81 and have played every edition since) I can definitely see P&P as an easier entry for starting players.
Don't get me wrong, Hero is a great system for modeling and emulating the superhero genre, but the sheer mass of rules can be intimidating (these days, it almost requires a computer program to write up a character).

So what you're suggesting is that buying 3d in Languages gives you the equivalent of Universal Translator? (I'm well-versed in Hero, having played it since 1st Edition.)
I could see that.

The Languages pro for Academics allows the character to know an additional number of languages equal to the Academics rank. You can also select the pro multiple times.
Does each extra pro provide another multiple of languages? In other words, would a character with Academics 6d and two Language pros know 12 additional languages?

Don't know about Len, but my take would be that it would depend on whether the player plans to have his character use it on a regular basis.
If it's a one time thing, I'd probably let the player use a Grappling roll with a special effect. If it's going to be a regular maneuver, though, yeah, I'd have him buy it as an Ensnare, with maybe an Item con.

I played a couple of demos of Silver Age Sentinels where we used their Random Character Generator to create our characters. In the first demo, I ended up with a guy whose only powers were the ability to speak with birds and Flight with an Activation Roll. My moment of glory was when my character had to take flight and I mimicked pulling a cord as I repeatedly failed to make the roll to activate the power. "Hold on, I think the engine's flooded..."

Very well then. It's become a pastime for me; I've done similar Character Generation Cheat Sheets for other games. I'll keep the amount of copied material to a minimum for copyright's sake and send you my final draft for review. See ya in the funny papers!

Heh. Computer Savvy Gamer Nerd is thrilled with the prospect but is unfortunately saddled with too much Real Life(tm) to pursue.
A Character Generation Reference Sheet, on the other hand, with all the traits, pros, cons, and flaws listed in one place for easy reference, might be more feasible. It would even be offered to the world as a free resource. Would that be an acceptable, or even desirable, endeavor?

I second the comment. There is an ongoing debate on whether art is a factor when evaluating RPGs, but I confess that eye candy does go a way in helping me make a decision when looking at games. God knows I've picked up a stinker or two based only on the artwork. In this case, though, the art definitely helps support an already good system.

Just wondering...
How would one create a hero that changed forms between his civilian and hero identities, so that each form had different abilities? For example, DC's Captain Marvel ("Shazam!") or Marvel's Hulk.

No worries. Just got excited at the idea. I will admit I am intrigued at the thought or creating a character generator app. The system is simple enough to codify; the question is what platform and infrastructure to use (a standalone program, Excel spreadsheet, or even something like Metacreator or Hero Lab). Of course, the first requirement would be for me to actually have the free time to devote to such an effort.

Putting out the word to see if there are any folks in the Baltimore/Washington corridor who are interested in trying out P&P. I am a player by preference, GM by necessity, so having someone else run something would be ideal, but I'll take what I can get.

Oh, okay. I thought you were talking about an app or something. I grabbed those first and went through them. They were a big part of what got me to pick up the book.

I saw you mention this in another thread.
There is such a thing? Where could it be found? Perspiring minds want to know!

Perhaps, but I would argue that said blind lawyer street-level hero would have more of an offensive ability than half his Athletics trait. I was wondering if maybe having the pro provide the ability for the character to use his full trait offensively, but make it more expensive (say 2d or 3d extra) could work.
